Types of Grih Pravesh as per Scriptures:
Apoorva – When a family is shifting for the first time in the new house, the worship performed at that time is called Apoorva Griha Pravesh Puja
Sapoorva – When the house if left vacant for some time due to any of the reasons eg. Moving to another city for job etc, then the Puja method which is done before re-shifting to the original house calls Sapoorva (the ex-house entrance)
Dwandhav – When a person has to leave the house due to any problem or natural calamity, then this puja is to be performed on re-entering the house. This is called Dwandhav (Duality House).

The traditional way is keeping Mango leaves or flowers in the door of your house early in the morning. The house shall be decorated with flowers and rangoli. Establish a Kalash by making a swastika on the main gate and light a lamp on that Kalash.
